I just fell for a bitcoin scam and I feel like an idiot.
I never thought I'd see the day, to be honest. I was browsing twitter, and saw a funny tweet by Elon Musk so I went into it and saw a tweet from an account I was sure was his, linking to this. It was early in the morning, I thought I had stumbled upon something that had a time limit, I was excited. And there I went and sent money like the idiot I am. It wasn't a whole lot of money, to be honest. It doesn't dent my personal finances, nor my savings, nor anything. But it really hurt my pride and ruined my day. Probably my next couple of days. And it's not like I'm having the best of days lately, tbh. But oh well. You live and you learn, I guess? Whatever.
'Overseas employer' deposits $900 into my account, wants me to transfer to Bitcoin...Scam?
I received an employment opportunity email from a chocolate company in Belgium. Ok, probably a scam I think, but let's see where it goes. 2 weeks later, all of the tasks they ask of me have been general research of office supplies and storage units. Nothing shady until he asks me to go to a Bitcoin ATM, deposit $5, and send him the Private Keys to the wallet. I said "no" basically. Here is the kicker: they just deposited $900 into my bank account. According to the bank the money is not pending, it really is in my account. And now this "company" wants me to return it to them via Bitcoin ATM method mentioned above. What the hell? is this a money laundering scam? I am confused because they actually sent me money (even though they are asking for it all back in BTC) Thoughts?

Youtube recommended this video to me. Thanks youtube! I'm sure it'll get taken down at some point, so here's a screengrab Just wanted to throw a heads-up out there. Didn't know it was that easy to get a scam pushed into people's "recommended videos" that easily.
I recently recieved a facebook message from someone who I didn't know IRL. They informed me "Do you know you can make $1500 with just $100 after 7 day's of trading." This immediately seemed fishy. They sent me a dodgy looking link where I could apparently buy bitcoin. So I did a WhoIs of this URL and found it was registered in Panama. I reverse searched the phone number and began to find tens of websites registered using the exact same PO box and phone number. I have included a pastebin containing this information. DO NOT click on these scam links as they can steal personal information. Phone: +507.8365503 Fax: +51.17057182 Address: P.O. Box 0823-03411
What to do if you've fallen victim to a Bitcoin scam
(US) I'm an idiot. My brother fell for a Bitcoin scam and called me in the middle of it because he needed help transferring the Bitcoin. I see these types of scams all the time and recognize them as obvious scams but in the moment it didn't seem like a scam because it was coming from my brother. His wife found a nanny job through care.com. The parents were moving into town and needed to by $3000 (!) worth of toys from someone. The parents transferred $3500 to my them - $3000 for toys and $500 for their first payment. They tried to transfer the $3000, but, as expected, only $1000 went through. The parents created a sense of urgency and asked that they do the remaining $2000 through Bitcoin. So my brother and his wife went to a Mall kiosk which didn't work and then to a place called Coinstar to buy Bitcoin. They called me when redeeming the voucher into their account didn't seem to be working. It just took a few minutes. Then they transferred the Bitcoin to the account of the person with the toys. It all seems so obvious and I'm completely embarrassed writing it down. I feel so guilty. They are calling the police right now and they plan to call the bank first thing in the morning. What else can they do? And where else can I go for advice? The Bitcoin went through coinme.com if that helps. I'm assuming the scammers will take back the $3500 they initially transferred. I doubt the Bitcoin can be recovered. So what can be done?
I'm ruined, I've just been scammed in an elaborate Bitcoin scam.
My emotions are still all over the place and I'm still trying to come to terms with what happened so please forgive my lack of coherence. Here is what happened. I just lost my job and applied to a few jobs on indeed. After a few days something texted me and told me I applied to a company he works for and he decided to text me privately because he wants to help me because we went to the same University. He told me he's a programmer and knows a way to double and trip any Bitcoin sent to him. I didn't know anything about bitcoin so he gave me a crash course on how Bitcoin worked, told me to setup coinbase and an exchange website and verify and to demonstrate how Bitcoin works he asked for my wallet and sent me $100 in Bitcoin from his own money. He showed me a screenshot where he had over $1,000,000 from doubling his bitcoin and he agreed to do it for me as well. He asked me to buy $250 worth of bitcoin and send to his wallet and he will double it in 30 mins. I did that, and he sent me $500. He asked me to buy $1000 and send to his wallet and I'll get $3000. I did that and he sent $3000 back to me. Then he asked me to send him $20,000 and he'll double it x5 and send me $100,000 I thought it was real because he already proved he could double it before so I wanted to do it. It took me 2 days to lift a limit on the exchange and used my entire savings to buy $20,000 and I sent it to him and it's been 3 days and he hasn't replied. I told my boyfriend and he thinks I've been scammed. He made me download an app called Wickr and that's how we communicated and the messages usually erase afterwards. He said this was to stop the NSA from monitoring what we were doing. I created another account and messaged him on the app and he replied thinking I was someone new and I told him it was me and he stopped responding. I've been told it's not possible to get my money back. I'm ruined. I wish I had found this sub earlier. I hope things get easier because right now I don't know what to do with myself I feel so stupid.
